Golf is available at nearby castel gandolfo country club, a stunning 18-hole course situated in the bowl of an extinct volcano. Then, after a day of activity, simply relax on the terrace and watch the sun set over rome and the mediterranean. Castel gandolfo lies to the se of rome, along the appia nuova, in the castelli romani. Perched on the lip of the lake albano crater, the town is only 20 km from the center of rome (appr. 30 minute drive) and yet it feels like a small hill-town nestled in the hills of tuscany or umbria. There are hourly trains from the castel gandolfo station (a 10 minute walk from the apartment) to rome termini and there are numerous buses to rome as well. Ciampino airport (serviced by numerous discount-fare airlines) is ony 10 minutes away and fiumicino airport (serviced by most major international airlines) is 30 minutes away.
